Covid-19 Antibody Testing
Total Antibody Test by Roche for COVID-19?
Arbor Diagnostics offers the Total Antibody Test by Roche, for COVID-19. This highly-sensitive and specific antibody test received EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) by the FDA on May 3, 2020.
The test was developed to help understand who has been exposed to the new coronavirus. We work closely with medical providers to ensure their patients have access to this important testing.
This serology (blood) test has a turnaround time of 24-48 hours. Results provide a clear positive or negative result to indicate your exposure status.
What is the Total Antibody Test?
People develop antibodies in response to an infection like COVID-19 disease. These antibodies can tell you if you may have developed an immunity to COVID-19. This ground-breaking test from Roche identifies the presence of all 3 antibodies, IgG, IgM, and IgA, as opposed to just one or two. That is why it’s named the “Total Antibody Test.”
Following exposure to the virus, it could take 2–14 days for someone to become symptomatic, with most people showing symptoms just 4–5 days after exposure.
Antibody testing helps give healthcare providers a better picture of a patient’s exposure history, regardless of past symptoms or severity, with 100% sensitivity by Day 14 (post-positive PCR test results).
We are the first North Texas-based pathology practice to offer this highly-sensitive Roche assay!
What does my test result mean?
Elecsys® Anti-SARS-COV-2 Serology test detects antibodies in people who have been exposed to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19 disease.
Positive results indicate that COVID-19 antibodies were detected in your blood, and you have been exposed to the virus at some point in the past.
Negative results mean that COVID-19 antibodies were not detected in your bloodwork.
